Salt Mochi Review

I found this Japanese delicacy on jbox.com i had heard it was a popular snack so i thought it couldn't hurt to try it.

This comes in a nice blue and white wrapper with Japanese writing on the side which must just say salt Mochi. Inside this wrapper there is a bit of corrugated cardboard covering the Mochi which once you open you find a sort of brownish gooey thing wrapped in a very easy to tear plastic which is near impossible to remove it took me 20 minutes to get to the point where I was no longer willing to spend any more time on it. So i ate and probably alot of the plastic wrapping.

I've been told this is traditionally served with green tea which is a popular drink in japan.

This to me tasted horrible I've never tasted something like this before and don't think I'm likely to try it again it was a pretty big disappointment because i'd been told it was nice but clearly someone lied to me. This had a faint taste of licorice but its not even enough to say its worth you buying if you like licorice it just doesn't taste good. So I really don't recommend any one tries this.

I'd give this a 2/10 and that's me being generous.

The can is a rather plain looking green and white can with the Schweppes logo and the words Cream Soda on the side accompanied with a big white sticker Tesco put on their imported stock which tells you all the nutritional details which is good for people that care about that kind of thing but for me is slightly annoying because i just like to look at the Japanese writing on the side of my cans but that's not a complaint about the drink its about Tesco.

This is really very nice cream soda tasted like vanilla as you would expect i think i would even go so far as to say it that its better than any cream soda I've ever tasted. However this did cost 80p for a 330ml can whereas other brands are like 30p but that is a marginal difference and to some might not even matter but this one definitely has the taste advantage over its competition.

I wish this was more readily available here in the UK if it wasn't for Tesco starting to sell it might have ended up having to buy it on the internet.

I completely recommend this its a very nice refreshing fizzy drink.

Strawberry Pocky Review

In Japan Pocky is a very popular choice in snack so i was wondering what all the fuss was about so i found some Strawberry Pocky on Jbox.com and had to buy it. Pocky is a type of flavored chocolate coated biscuit sticks.

Pocky comes in a rather lovely cardboard pouch. The kind of Pocky i bought was the strawberry variation so it was in a pink box with lots of strawberries on the packet and pictures of the Pocky itself of course.

As you open the cardboard pouch you will find 3 packets of Pocky each with like 5 sticks in it the packets are coloured pink and white.

As soon as you have unwrapped the Pocky there is a really strong smell of strawberries coming from the within but after you take a bite you'll just want more and more at least that was the case with me. These strawberry flavored chocolate biscuit sticks really are delightful. The biscuit could be made out of a nicer tasting biscuit i feel but the strawberry chocolate tastes really delicious and makes up for what is lacking in the biscuit.

I can't say that these snacks are very original because i have seen very similar things in the past but i would say that these are very nice for what they are and worth buying because they really don't cost much so for a small snack to get you through a busy day i would recommend these.

 I'd give these an 8/10

Lotte Koala No March (Chocolate Flavoured Biscuits) Review

These come in a very nice little colourful hexagonal box which has cute koala bear designs all over it. All the writing which is on the box is in Japanese but on the packet I bought there is a big white sticker placed on it by Tesco which lists the ingredients in it in English. It also has the Australian koala association logo on the side of the box and apparently some of the profits made from these biscuits go to that particular charity which is good.

These are very small crunchy koala shaped biscuits with lovely milk chocolate in the middle they are heavenly to eat. Each of the biscuits have different pictures of koalas actually baked into the delicious cookie. These are a pretty convenient snack because the small bag could easily fit into your pocket if you want a small snack while your out and about these would be perfect. The amount of biscuits there are in a packet is not a massive amount but its a good size for the price it costs and i would say its definitely worth trying and if you don't like them then you must be dead inside.

I think I'd give these a 9/10
